ABOUT NINA MCCORMACK

I’m Nina McCormack, LCSW, BCN, CCTP, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Maryland and Virginia, with over 25 years of experience providing therapy to individuals from ages 4 to 99.  I specialize in treating trauma using Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and am excited to be joining the team at Brooke Bralove Psychotherapy, providing lasting change for clients using this evidence-based treatment modality.

My background as a Behavioral Science Technician in the U.S. Army,  led me to pursue my master’s degree in Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating in 2001.  Supporting military personnel and their families with challenges such as deployment, reunification, trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse was a true honor.

Currently I specialize in treating individuals 16 years and older experiencing a wide range of issues, including, but not  limited to:

  • PTSD
  • Trauma
  • Anxiety and Panic Disorder
  • Depression
  • Grief and Loss
  • Substance Abuse
  • Emotional Dysregulation
  • Relationship Issues

I use a client-centered approach to therapy, believing that “one size does not fit all,” but no matter the approach, I am always grounded in empathy, compassion, and non-judgment, striving to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can openly explore their thoughts and feelings. I am dedicated to helping individuals develop the skills, tools, and insight they need to thrive in their lives.  As a lifelong learner, I continue to incorporate new evidence-based therapeutic techniques to best serve each unique journey.

My clinical approach draws from a variety of modalities including:

  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
  • Neurofeedback
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Breathwork Therapy
  • Somatic Therapy
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Gestalt Therapy
  • Attachment Therapy
